Getting Relief

Relief is all any of us want from a stuffy nose, hacking cough or aching muscles. Does it make a difference if the cause is an allergy, a cold or the flu? It makes a big difference. Understanding the source of your particular symptoms is the key to getting the relief you need.

Breathing Easier - Is It Possible?

If you are one of the 50 million Americans who suffer from asthma or upper respiratory symptoms due to allergies, the answer is "Yes!"

Whether you are experiencing the runny nose and itchy eyes of hay fever or the wheezing and shortness of breath associated with asthma, there are winning strategies you can enlist to minimize the occurrence of asthma and allergy attacks in your daily life. Moreover, various medications are available to aid in the prevention of attacks over the long-term. With a little attention and diligence, yes, you can breathe.

Know the Cause of Your Symptoms

Many allergies share a list of symptoms that are common to other diseases. However, the treatments for allergic conditions can be quite different from those for non-allergic diseases. It is critical to determine the cause of your symptoms in order to achieve effective treatment and avoid any possible complications.

Common Allergies and Their Symptoms

Many allergies share symptoms with other diseases. These similarities can make it difficult to determine the actual cause of your symptoms and the appropriate treatment.

You should however be aware of a particular allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis is a severe life-threatening reaction that affects the entire body. Symptoms include intense itching all over the body, total body swelling and respiratory distress. In the worst case a sufferer can go into anaphylactic shock, the loss of consciousness due to choking or a sudden drop in blood pressure. Immediate medical attention is required.
